New control capabilities on the existing Sartorius bioreactors
The challenge
Our Client faced many issues with 5 bioreactors from Sartorius – limitation in control flexibility, graphs, database capacity, exporting data for analysis and reporting… Additionally, operational challenges were raised: lack of remote access and high cost of modifications from existing provider without extra capabilities. The company faced a classic vendor lock-in dilemma: accept expensive proprietary solutions or find a flexible alternative.
Solution
We delivered retrofitting solution that allowed our client to keep existing hardware from Sartorius while allowing centralized control with new capabilities from QB Control platform. We managed to overcome the hardware vendor lock-in while proposing a small modification in hardware to enable full software control of the existing 5 bioreactors via QB Control and parallel processing capabilities.

The bioreactor retrofit allowed existing equipment to be preserved while enabling full control and access to extended functionalities from a single platform. Centralized process management, intuitive operation, and remote monitoring significantly streamlined both workflow and data analysis. This solution improved lab efficiency and flexibility without the need for costly equipment replacement or dependency on a specific supplier. Łukasz Paciorkowski
